The Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan as the mausoleum for his favourite queen Mumtaz Mahal. Constructed entirely out of white marble, it is an architectural masterpiece with four minarets, beautiful inlay work and marble screens.
Although this architectural masterpiece looks stunning at all times, you will be impressed and startled by the changing colours of the Taj as the sun sets in the sky. From a glorious white in bright sunlight, the Taj Mahal’s fine pietra dura (marble inlay work) and marble screens seem to undergo many changes as the light fades.
